Certified Japanese Teachers - 12

Hi everyone,

How are you?

This is Masa :)

How's everything going?

1, thank you all so much for joining us in the June event, Yuuzenn Dyeing workshop last week. It was fun, wasn't it?

Big thanks also go to Ms Megumi Taguchi from World Unite who planned and set up the event for us :) She says she runs 4 indoor activities at their event space we visited and 1 outdoor activity visiting a touristy location in the Kanto region every month and welcomes Asao group to those anytime. Let's pick and try one next month also!

She also says that World Unite organises Working Holiday visas for those who wish to stay and work in Japan. They also offer shared houses to their participants. For details, please have a look at

https://www.world-unite.de/en/working-holiday/japan/working-holiday-in-tokyo.html

I am in touch with them regularly now, so if you have questions about their services, you can let me know as well. I will be happy to help clarify them for you :)

2, how are you getting on with your JLPT preparation?

It's not much but I have been making posts on TikTok trying to contribute to your study by explaining the grammars in English. It's neither quality videos nor my best performances ever, but I am hoping that they can clarify some of your doubts.

I am aware that some of you are taking it for your personal challenge while others are for their job career and possibly attaining a Permanent Resident visa. I am not sure if you are familiar with this. But, if you are planning to apply for it with less than 10 years of stay in Japan, you will need to rely on the point system. I have come across a website that explains the system relatively clearly.

Please have a look at it and if you have questions, please let me know :) I will be happy to support you to figure it out :)

3, Just so that you know that, if you are a pet owner and need support, two of my very close friends who are vets owning and running animal clinics in Tokyo can help you.

They will be delighted to help you with examinations and medical treatments as well as step by step instructions while relocating to and leaving Japan. I am in touch with them regularly so don't hesitate to let me know :)

She is actively teaching both in and out of our Discord community :) She has been working with us for a few years now. With her warm personality and expertise, everyone's feedback on her lessons has been very positive. If you come across her name on Discord, please say hello to her or let me or Yuka sensei know if want to try her lesson. She is a popular and well skilled teacher welcoming learners of a variety of levels and study purposes such as conversation, general, JLPT preparation.

That's it for today!

Thank you always for supporting our community and wish you the best of luck with the exam next week!

Certified Japanese Teachers - 11

Hi everyone!
How are you?
This is Masa :)
How's everything going?

During our monthly teachers meeting, we came across a couple of free study materials that are available online. They might be worth having a look at.

1. TADOKU Supporters

A group of Japanese teachers in Shinjuku produce their original books to encourage learners to read more.
If you click the link below and scroll down, there are 15 of them. They also come with audio.

https://tadoku.org/japanese/book-search/?level=&series=050&kind%5B%5D=060&kw=&order=register_desc

2. NHK World Japan

Japan Broadcasting Corporation produces a role-play type of lessons on video for practical daily phrases. There are 48 of them. You can look at the script as you play the video.

3. Kobe International Community Center
They produce their own textbook. There are 12 units in it. It also comes with audio.

They do not follow the JLPT framework but for general studies. 1 and 2 can be used for self study and 3 is a pure classroom material. So you will probably need a help from your teacher with 3 :)

She mainly teaches online :)
If you look up her name on Discord, you will find her name offering lessons both in First Craic and Second Craic.
She has been teaching with us for a few years now. If you have a chance, please say hello to her and try her lessons. She is one of the popular teachers for conversation lessons.

Hope the information helps!

Cultural / Social Activity in June 2024

Hi everyone!

How are you?

This is Masa. How's your studying going?

I would like to let you know in advance that, for this month's event, we are going to join the Yuuzenn Dyeing workshop organised by World Unite https://www.world-unite.de/en.html

It is a specific traditional dyeing method that is often used to dye Kimono and Obi (kimono belt) :)

It's going to be from 13:00 - 15:00 on Saturday 22 June. The venue is the event space inside their shared house in Kiba. The address is as follows.

Would you be interested?

If so, please sign up and let's meet at 12:30 at the entrance of the venue and go in together as a group :)

Aiko sensei, Akiko sensei and I will be joining for sure, and other teachers may also.

We need to let the organiser know how many of us will be there so if you are interested, please let either Yuka sensei at yuka.asaolanguage@gmail.com or Taito sensei at taito.asaolanguage@gmail.com know.

The participation fee they set is 1100 yen per person.

It's going to be fun!

Looking forward to seeing you!

Social / Cultural Activity moving forward

Hi everyone,

How are you?

This is Masa :)

How's everything going?

Today, I would like to share with you news on our future activities and events :)

In the last event we had in Kamakura, we had an opportunity to get to know the staff members of World Unite, a US based company that offers a variety of language learning related services in various countries including Japan.

https://www.world-unite.de/en.html

Aiko sensei and I spoke with them and we became friendly. They are a very very nice bunch of people who organise wonderful events to their community members regularly.

We are now in discussion for possible corroborations in the future :)

For start, we are thinking of joining their events as a group and get to know them more, possibly from next month.

Just like ours, their events and activities welcome a mix of Japanese and foreign nationals, so it is going to be a great opportunity for you to practice Japanese, learning Japanese culture, meeting new people and so on.

We will make an announcement about our June event in due course.

Stay tuned!

TikTok Project in progress

Hi everyone,

How's studying going?

This is Masa :)
How are you?

Today, I would like to share with you a quick heads up on my TikTok project.

https://www.tiktok.com/@asaolanguageschool

It's been about 3 months since I restarted and now I welcome 270 followers.

First and foremost, I would like to thank those who have been watching and leaving encouraging comments and thumb ups on my posts.

It is a simple enough content that I am making but posting everyday can only work with the assuring feeling that there is somebody waiting so thank you!

Going forward, welcoming your questions and requests and me responding to those will be an essential part so if you have any wonder, doubts or opinions, please give them to me. I will appreciate that :)

To new teachers, this project is my personal challenge as well as a test to see if teaching Japanese in English (Indirect Method) actually works better than Direct Method or is effective at all.

So, please do not worry. You will not have to be an English speaker to teach at Asao. You will be teaching in Japanese :)

Will keep you posted!
